Happy New Year!

Here are some pictures from a day trip out to Lincoln Beach in New Orleans East. This was the site of a popular amusement park, swimming pool, and entertainment center for African-Americans in the┬átime of segregation – somewhere they could go since they weren’t allowed into the bigger Pontchartrain Beach park. It was closed in 1964 after segregation ended and it’s pretty much a ghost village now, with abandoned buildings and graffiti scattered on the property.
