Because we all forget sometimes just how lucky we are, I thought I would share something I read yesterday:

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more fortunate than the million people on the planet who will not survive this week.

If you can attend a religious meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than 3 billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead, and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of the people in this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish somewhere, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthiest people.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug, or even touch someone on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer a healing touch.

If you can read this, you are more blessed than over 2 billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

… what are you grateful for?

I’m grateful to have stumbled upon this blog and its author. So often people live their life in a perfunctory manner, aimed merely at putting one foot in front of the other to the end of mechanically winding down the gears of time. It’s wonderful to see those that step back, appreciate, ruminate, and most importantly share their perspective with anyone or anything that cares to listen (or read). I too fall victim to this thoughtless countdown so always look forward to the pleasant reminder, by poets and philosophers, that life is full of mine and others wonder, joy, loss, sadness, inspiration, depression, surprise, love, thought, etc. etc. It’s a wildly systematic chaos. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Now, I must go home and sleep, it has been a long day.
