North/South Nodes & Lou Androlia

Part I: North & South Nodes

This year I became interested in the concept of North and South astrological nodes. My understanding of these is that your South nodes are your comfort zone and what you may naturally gravitate to, while your North nodes are what you should be aspiring or working toward in this lifetime. Remember all those quotes about life and magic beginning just outside your comfort zone? That’s the same line of thinking as to why you should be moving toward your North nodes. Mine definitely resonated with me and the friends I’ve shared them with have had the same reaction, so I wanted to share them here.

North/South nodes change every 18 months, so find the one that corresponds with your birth date. Once you find yours, click here to read more details.

Part II: Interview with Louise Androlia

In that same vein, a couple of months ago I had a clarity session with Louise Androlia. Louise has been doing my tarot readings and clarity sessions for a few years now and I’m very fond of her direct but positive style. During our last session, I was looking for guidance on feeling sort of “stuck” and I was surprised to find she reiterated so many of the things reflected in my North/South nodes. I found her advice helpful and I’m really looking forward to this New Year. She was kind enough to answer a few questions for the blog so I’m also sharing that today!

You and I talked about how sometimes when you feel a strong connection to someone or something, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in feeling like it’s meant to be or analyzing the lesson it holds for you – when sometimes the lesson maybe is to let go of it! Why do you think this is so hard for us and maybe even particularly hard as women?

A common theme in all people is a fear of the unknown, and this is why we get attached and controlling, whether it’s with people or situations, via a need to know everything. It comes from our deep need to feel safe; so it’s not coming from a negative place! More so a protective one, but it’s the controlling actions we take that cause the negative effect.

We fear letting go because we associate it with losing something. I like to help people reinterpret this by understanding that when we let go we actually allow things to flow how they should, rather than be in that forced space of analyzing and spinning in circles. The letting go creates more opportunities, peace and abundance in all areas!

So, with that attachment to others it is that combination: We are so desperate to know what the connection means because we want to 1. Know the future and 2. We fear loss so we want to grip onto the idea or person so it can’t disappear.

In regards to it being women, I can’t say as I don’t have many male clients, but in romantic relationships there is of course a difference in hormones and whether we like it or not, that can cause us to become more attached to someone.

You emphasized the importance you see in creating a morning routine, even if it’s just a few minutes at the beginning of the day to sit quietly. Can you share details about your morning routine?

I translate meditation to mean ‘valuing your time’ so my morning practice in simplicity is to give myself time before I do anything else in the day. My only commitment is to sitting down in the space that I have created and then going from there. For me that space is a table filled with my Tarot, journals, books, candles and so on, but for you it could just be a cushion. When I’m there I do what feels right at the time, it may be as simple as taking one deep breath or I may be there for an hour writing or reading.

The reason that this is important is due to the valuing of the time. If you commit to giving yourself time each day, then everything else will seem to value you more. When we rush out in the morning and have barely given ourselves time to breathe, then it’s really easy for the day to feel restrictive and like time is not on your side.

It’s hard for people to believe that such a simple practice can transform your whole life, but it can and it will! I’ve written more about it here.

Are there any end-of-year practices or rituals you recommend to get ready for the New Year?

I do the same thing every year on either New Years Eve or New Years Day, thanking the year that has passed and inviting in the new. I’ve written about it here if you’d like to try!

What are your favorite Instagram accounts for inspiration?

@boochaces – an animal rescue farm on the East coast

@coyotethunder – I love his art and poems

You recently moved from England to Los Angeles. What’s been the best thing about your move so far?

What I LOVE about moving to another country is to be gifted a renewed sense of wonder. Getting to see a place with fresh eyes when you are an adult is so amazing and really has made me feel happier and more open to opportunities. It’s been nice to say YES a lot!

Who would play you in a movie?

Drew Barrymore!
